This is an island that we will definitely need to rent a car. There are 3 main resort areas with a few others scattered between. Most visitors choose between Wailea, Kaanapali, and Napili or Kapalua area. Kaanapali is the busiest area with the most mega resorts and large shopping center. Wailea is considered the most upscale of all the resort areas and is on an extremely beautiful stretch of beach with more swimmable waters then Kaanapali. Napili and Kapalua are much quieter and smaller areas with only a few resorts. Choosing the right area depends on what type of trip you are wanting to experience.
